Carpet Beetles

Carpet Beetle Control

If you have carpet beetles in your home or office building, you’re not alone. Carpet beetles naturally live outdoors, but they will come into a building through improperly sealed doors and windows, feeding on household items like fabric and food items.

How can you identify carpet beetles in your living space?

The Black Carpet Beetle, as the name suggests, is black in colour and oblong shaped and ranges in size from 1/8″ up to 3/16″ in length. The other beetles, though about the same size, have a variety of different wing colour patterns and are somewhat more oval in shape. Carpet Beetles go through a complete metamorphosis which includes egg, larvae (crawling stage), pupae (cocoon) and adult (beetle). In their larval stage, they do the most significant damage as they ingest the fabric or food in your home.

How do you know when it’s time to call on our exterminator team for pest control service?

If you see damage or irregular holes in carpeting, clothing, and animal hides, you may have a carpet beetle problem. Furthermore, if you see larvae crawling near your cereals, nuts and other foods, or even near pet hair that has accumulated near the base of furniture, it could be due to the infestation by these pests. Contact us if you need assistance to remove carpet beetles from your pantry and your living space.
